According to recent Turkish media reports on Monday, CHP Deputy Chairman Gursel Tekin invited all sections of society to be “sensitive” about price hikes in the country. Tekin said it is the “first time” Turkey experiences such a “high rate” of increase in prices. The Turkish Energy Ministry recently announced an 18.7-percent rise in natural gas prices and a 9.3 percent increase in electricity prices. In addition to the increase in natural gas and electricity price, there has also been a rise in gasoline prices. Tekin added that the CHP and a group of Turkish civil organizations plan to organize protests in a number of cities “in the coming days.”
