Luxor - UPI

Archaeologists said they found the tomb of a beer brewer who served Egypt's royalty more than 3,000 years ago in Luxor. A Japanese team from Waseda University uncovered the tomb of Khonso-Im-Heb, who was in charge of beer production for the goddess Mut, Ahram Online reported Friday. The discovery was made while the team was cleaning the front court of the tomb of a top official during the reign of King Amenhotep III in the 1300s BC. The brewer's tomb is T-shaped and is connected to an unfinished tomb of an as-yet unidentified person, Ahram Online said. Jiro Kondo, head of the Japanese mission, said Khonso-Im-Heb's tomb was well preserved and painted with scenes showing the occupant with family members and in front of different Egyptian deities. Minister of State of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim told Ahram Online security was beefed up around the tomb until excavation work is finished.
