Jordanian Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Hayel Dawood on Monday censured radical Zionists settlers' daily acts of desecrating the Aqsa Mosque while escorted by occupation troops which incited the feelings of Muslims and worshipers at the Islamic holy site, Petra reported.
Dawood's statement to Petra denounced occupation special forces' assault on the Al Aqsa Mosque, prayers, staff and guards and impeding the restoration works carried out by workers involved in the reconstruction of Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.
The forces disrupted the implementation of more than 19 projects, in addition to keeping the Gate of Mercy building closed for more than 13 years and prevent its rehabilitation, added the statement.
Dawood appealed to international humanitarian organizations, the UN Security Council, the Islamic Cooperation Organization and the Arab League to put pressure on the Israeli authorities to prevent settlers and extremists from profaning the Al Aqsa Mosque under the eyes of the Israeli occupation forces and preserve the Arab and Islamic heritage in Al Quds.
