HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari has commissioned the Mobile Library Project (Alwan or Colours) which is the first mobile library in the State of Qatar launched by the Children's Cultural Centre under the theme "Colour your Life by Reading." Dr Al Kuwari underlined the keenness of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage on supporting all projects aimed at developing children and upgrading their abilities and talents, noting that reading is of a great value that community must implant in the hearts of children from early childhood to build a generation of enlightened intellectuals to contribute to nation's building. In a statement to reporters he gave on the sidelines of the mobile library inauguration ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage said this event is unusual as it concerns the commissioning of the first mobile library in the country which will upgrade reading from being just a hobby to a daily habit among children, praising in this regard, the role played by the Children's Cultural Centre through the activities which will contribute to the development of reading among children within the State of Qatar and enhance their skills to participate in the process of development currently under way in the country. Dr. Al-Kuwari described the mobile convoy project as a creative idea which constitutes a new addition to plant the habit of reading among children, because the mobile library goes to the child wherever he is and give him a wide range of books and stories to help him read, think and create, valuing the project adopted by the Children's Cultural Centre as part of the mobile library project namely the print of a collection of stories written by the children themselves and publishing them within the convoy to give the Qatar children's access to their colleagues and peers. He explained that the value of this part of the project will appear later when the child grows and see his creations arrive to the community, pointing out that if such projects continued and efforts were pooled in this area, the State of Qatar will see in the near future thousands of names of writers and creators whose innovations were started since their childhood. Dr. Al-Kuwari meanwhile underlined the need to pool of all states institutions to upgrade the Qatari and Arab children's level by organizing and launching projects related to the child in the first place, noting that the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage puts the child among its top priorities for being the basis on which societies are built. For her part, Director General of the Children's Cultural Centre Dr. Hind Al-Muftah said the idea of the mobile library started by the equipping of a bus to form a non-traditional image of a library in the mind of the child, to be an interactive pattern reading associated with enjoyment and fun and to serve as a mobile library moving from child to child.
