The Orthodox Church under Pope Tawadros II mourned the death of Egypt's Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat who died in a terrorist attack on his convoy.
In a statement released on Monday, the Orthodox Church regretted the death of Counselor Barakat who was honestly doing his job to achieve justice and defend the rights of the Egyptian people.
The Church called for protecting the country's reputation and safety in such critical time as regional threats are on the rise, added the statement.
The statement called on all peace-loving powers in the region and the world to take a firm stance in the face of extremism and terrorism which spread chaos and destruction in the region and the whole world.
The church also offered condolences to the prosecutor's family and the Egyptian people
