Egypt's Ambassador in The Hague Taher Farahat inaugurated the permanent exhibition for the Egyptian antiquities in Leiden museum after renewing it as well as the temporary exhibition dubbed "The queens of Nile".

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Dutch ministers of culture and antiquities and sciences, the head of Leiden museum, the head of the Egyptian museum in Italy, the mayor of Leiden, a host of archaeologists in the Netherlands and Italy as well as reporters of the Dutch newspapers.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, the Foreign Ministry said that a tour was organized for reporters to take pictures for the artifacts and get acquainted with the importance of the event especially that the temporary exhibition will wrap up in April 2017.

During the ceremony, the Egyptian ambassador delivered a speech where he tackled the uniqueness of the Egyptian civilization, its role in enriching humanity, the great role of the woman and the rights she acquired.

He further thanked the Dutch minister of culture, science and antiquities as well as the museum for organizing this great event.

For her part, the Dutch minister hailed the ancient Egyptian civilization, highlighting the importance of empowering women.

She further reiterated that the customs authorities track any smuggling operations of the antiquities.

Meanwhile, about 1,200 persons visited the two exhibition during the first day of its inauguration.
