Manama - BNA

Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) deputised SCW's member Shaikh Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa to attend the opening of the exhibition of renowned Bahraini artist Ebrahim Bu Saad entitled " Black and White- Etching", organised today, at the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage, by the Ministry of Culture and the Bahrain Cancer Society, in cooperation with the Bu Saad Fine Art Gallery. Shaikha Hessa lauded the modern techniques used in the exhibition's paintings based on contrasting white and black through the etching method, praising the artist's intricate use of lines and patterns to create colour and depth. She praised the initiative to allocate the entire exhibition's revenues to support the Bahrain Cancer Society. She voiced pride in the advanced level of the Bahrain fine art movement, which, she said, matches world schools, praising the role played by the Ministry of Culture to support Bahraini artists through hosting various artistic exhibitions. She wished Bahraini artists every success. Ebrahim Bu-Saad was born in Bahrain in 1954. The discovery of his talent as a child preceded his formal academic years and his crude graffiti on the walls of houses could not go unnoticed. He worked as a calligraphist in the Ministry of Education in 1973 and in 1978 received a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Baghdad. Bu-Saad is a founding member of the Bahrain Arts Society. The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage was established as per Royal Decree 35 of 2010 to support the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in the Arab States region with the underlying aim of protecting, conserving and presenting cultural and natural heritage, and in line with agreement signed between the Government of Bahrain and UNESCO in February, 2010. It was opened on April 28, 2012.
