The birth of The Tunisian Amazigh Culture Association, "a vanguard social-cultural event," according to observers, was announced at a news conference held on Saturday in Tunis. The latter was conducted by association Chairwoman Khadija Ben Saidane, World Amazigh Congress President Lounis Belgacem and two representatives of the Congress Abderrazek Amadi from Libya and Khaled Zerari from Morocco. Mrs. Ben Saidane said in her address, that the association was founded last April during the National Amazigh Congress held in Matmata, adding that getting the legal authorisation is one of the Tunisian Revolution gains. She reminded of the restrictions and problems caused by the former regime which had used all means to impede the development of the Amazigh culture, which is the most ancient in the country.
