Egyptian Ambassador in Kinshasa Hany Salah met on Wednesday with head of the Congolese community in Egypt Adam Mohamed.
Mohamed voiced appreciation for Egypt and for the key role it plays throughout Africa, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
There are about 400 Congolese nationals representing the Congolese community here in Egypt, he said, noting that most of them are speaking Arabic as they get their education at Al Azhar faculties and institutes.
The Congolese official went on to say that all members of the Congolese community here regard Egypt as their second homeland which had previously hosted the family of the Congolese former prime minister Patrice Lumumba in the wake of his assassination in 1961.
He also said that he followed up with great interest the visit of President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Joseph Kabila to Egypt in August 2015 during which he attended the New Suez Canal inauguration ceremony.
