Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa today received United Nations Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amin Al-Sharkawi.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed Al-Sharkawi, stressing the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to strengthen the various forms of cooperation and joint coordination with the UNDP, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to the treaties and agreements signed with the United Nations. He also praised the initiatives and projects implemented by the UNDP and the role they play in supporting the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’S), noting the efforts of those working on the program and wishing them success.
Al-Sharqawi expressed his pleasure to have met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and praised the support given to the UNDP by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He stressed his keenness to continue consultations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs on issues of mutual interest. He also pointed out the theme for the general debate of the 73rd session of the General Assembly is "Making the United Nations relevant to all people: global leadership and shared responsibilities for peaceful, equitable and sustainable societies", and wished the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
