Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr met on Thursday with personal Representative of the German Chancellor for Africa at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Günter Nooke.
They discussed means of boosting economic relations between Egypt and Germany in light of the expected visit by German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Egypt later in the day.
The two sides tackled projects to be funded by Germany at a total cost of 203.5 million euros in the fields of education, renewable energy and irrigation
They also stressed the need for supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Egypt and adopting a German initiative, currently considered by the G20, to encourage overall economic growth in Africa.
Several economic reform measures have been taken to allow the private sector to play a more active role in establishing development projects, Nasr said.
She stressed that the government is keen on overcoming all obstacles facing German investors in Egypt.
A high-level economic delegation will accompany Merkel on her visit to Egypt to probe means of increasing German investments in Egypt, Nooke said.
