Jordanian King Abdullah II received Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem at a meeting that tackled the monarch's efforts to safeguard the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city.
During the meeting, held at Al Hussainiah Palace in the presence of the King's Senior Advisor for Religious Affairs Prince Ghazi bin Mohammed, cultural and personal envoy to the monarch, the Patriarch said that all the people of Jerusalem, both Christians and Muslims, highly appreciate the king's gesture to renovate Jesus' Tomb in the Church of Resurrection at his personal expense, Petra News reported on Sunday.
He added that the King's efforts in protecting the Christian existence in Jerusalem had a profound impact in boosting their steadfastness, stressing that these efforts had restored hope for the Christians of the Orient for a brighter future.
