King Abdullah II of Jordan and President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine yesterday held talks on the latest developments related to the Palestinian issue.
According to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, talks dealt with the Palestinian reconciliation agreement, reached recently in Cairo, for which King Abdullah voiced Jordan's full support, saying that it would contribute to strengthening Palestinian unity.
The King said the reconciliation agreement is an important step in pushing forward the peace process and re-launching serious and effective negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution that would lead to establishing an independent Palestinian state on the June 4th, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President Abbas expressed appreciation for Jordan's continued efforts in defending the Palestinian issue and supporting the Palestinian people's rights in all international forums.
