The Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Wednesday received Bidhya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal, and her delegation.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid welcomed the Nepalese President and discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing them by opening new channels of economic, tourism and investment cooperation to achieve mutual benefits for the two countries and its friendly people.
During the meeting, which was attended by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, the Nepali President and Sheikh Mohammed’s talks focused on joint investment, especially in the utilities and tourism sectors, where Nepal has promising assets to invest in these fields and achieve economic feasibility.
President Bhandari thanked the Dubai Ruler for the charitable and humanitarian assistance provided by the UAE to her country. She especially lauded the constructive role played by Dubai Cares in developing the education sector and providing educational opportunities for the children of Nepal, who lost their schools as a result of the earthquake that hit many areas in the country three years ago.
Others in attendance included Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai's Court; Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai; Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi, UAE Ambassador to Nepal, and Netra Bahadur Tandan, Charge d'Affaires at the Nepalese Embassy in the UAE.
