Beijing - Arab Today

Visiting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Wednesday held a session of talks in the Republican Palace here.

The two sides took up several important issues of common concern including the files of Syria and Yemen, means of fighting terrorism, mechanisms of promoting join cooperation and the recent regional and international developments.

President Sisi congratulated the Chinese people and government over the World War II victory, whose celebrations marking its 70th anniversary will be held on Thursday.

Sisi lauded achievements realized within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership that was launched by the two countries.

He noted that his current visit here is the second of its kind in less than a year as he paid a similar visit to China in December last year.

For his part, the Chinese president thanked Sisi for attending celebrations marking the victory day.

He further noted that the Egyptian army's participation in the celebrations attests to keenness on part of Egypt to promote bilateral relations.

An Egyptian army company including 81 officers and soldiers is taking part in the military parade that will be held as part the celebrations.

The Chinese president held that Egypt under president Sisi has accomplished several achievements and enhanced its status at the regional and international levels.
