New York - Arab Today

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has met with Ireland Prime Minister Enda Kenny and Croatia President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on the sidelines of their participation in the UN General Assemby meeting in New York.

The Irish premier hailed the Egyptian stance in fighting terror, wishing success for the Egyptian efforts to achieve security and stability in the Middle East region as a whole.

Presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said the president expressed Egypt's keenness on boosting ties with Ireland in all domains for the mutual benefit of the two nations.

Sisi thanked the Irish premier for backing Egypt's bid to become a non-permanent member of the UN Secuirty Council 2016-2017.

The two sides stressed the importance of beefing up bilateral ties specially in the agricultural, educational, technological, and artistic domains.

The Irish official said his country will dispatch a delegation to Egypt to discuss several fields of cooperation between the two countries.

Also, Sisi met Croatia's president who congratulated the Egyptian leader on the opening of the New Suez Canal.

She spoke of her country's interest in cooperation between Croatian ports and the Suez Canal, the spokesman said, adding that she also showed keenness on cooperation in all fields specially those her country is advanced in such as energy, construction and Information Technology (IT).

The president explained that illegal immigration to Europe is the immediate result of the problems of extremism and terrorism which cause security problems and leave the Arab and African countries suffering the economic and social impacts.

Such causes leave some citizens with no alternative but to illegally immigrate to Europe in search of security and stability, the president said.

Political crises in Arab and African countries force a big number of nationals seek illegal immigration to Europe, Sisi said, adding that such causes must be politically solved for such countries to provide good opportunities to their peoples at home.
