Sudanese President's Assistant Ibrahim Mahmoud, Tuesday met with the US envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Donald Booth.
In a press statement after the meeting, Mahmoud said that the meeting came in the context of the consultations between Khartoum and Washington for achieving permanent peace in Darfur and the two areas (South-Kurdofan, and Blue Nile). He added that an American role is required to be played for convincing the movements to sign a cessation of hostilities' agreement.
Mahmoud pointed out that opportunity is still available for the movements to sign a cessation of hostilities agreement, which will lead to other important arrangements and the participation in the national dialogue.
Meanwhile, the US envoy said that the meeting had discussed ways of pushing ahead the negotiations, expressing the United States' desire that peace in Sudan is to be realized.
He said that the United States is urging all the peace-wishing parties to join the national dialogue, indicating that the parties were about to sign agreement in the past negotiations session and that most issues were agreed upon.
