Army Chief, General Joseph Aoun, received at his office in Yarze, the commander of the US Central Command, General Joseph Votel, in the presence of Ambassador Elizabeth Richard. The meeting touched on bilateral relations and the US aid to the LAF.
A meeting was held later in the presence of the Lebanese Army Commander, Chief of Staff, Major General Hatem Malak, the US delegation, the British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hugo Shorter, and the Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, Major General Michael Beary, with a presentation made by senior officers on the situation along the Lebanese border, the tasks of land border groups and the technical, combat and logistical needs of these units.
In his speech, General Votel stressed "continuous support for the Lebanese Army through the provision of aid," hailing the "achievement made by the Army in the Fajr El Jouroud battle
