Amman - Petra

Jordan, which is currently assuming the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, will Tuesday chair a session on a number of key Middle East issues and counter-terrorism efforts.

The session, which will be chaired Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh, will address the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the raging crises in Syria, Yemen and Libya as well as efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

Judeh will also participate tomorrow in a panel discussion at the United Nations General Assembly on tolerance, peace and countering extremism, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs official spokeswoman, Sabah al-Rafie.

She added that His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II will chair a debate on the “Role of Youth in Countering Violent Extremism and Promoting Peace”.

Al-Rafie noted that Judeh will Friday chair a Council’s session on the Syrian refugee crisis and its implications on neighboring countries, including Jordan.

On April 27th, the foreign minister will participate in a trilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to discuss the situation in Yemen, as well as other issues in the region and the war on terrorism.

On the same day, Judeh will participate in a conference to review the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty 2015 at the United Nations General Assembly.

On the sidelines of meetings, the deputy prime minister will hold bilateral meetings with officials and foreign ministers, during which he will discuss the relations with these countries and the latest developments in the region.
