Leaders of 28 world countries will take part in the Belt&Road Initiative Forum to take place in Beijing on May 14-15, according to a report by the Chinese Embassy here on Monday.
Among the participating countries are Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Hungary, Italy, Czech, Switzerland, Spain, Kenya and Ethiopia.
The convocation of the high-level forum came after Chinese President Xi Jinping launched this initiative three years ago, the report said.
The forum will discuss problems facing the global and regional economy, efforts to push forward development process and make the best use of this initiative to better serve the peoples as well as enhancing cooperation in the infrastructure, trade and investment domains among the initiative members.
China hopes the forum will come out with hoped-for results that would help push forward economic growth, fight poverty, boost UN efforts for peace and cooperation, provide jobs, create better life to all peoples and preserve environment.
The Belt&Road Initiative is a development strategy and framework, proposed by Chinese leader Xi Jinping that focuses on connectivity and cooperation among countries primarily between the China and the rest of Eurasia, which consists of two main components, the land-based "Silk Road Economic Belt" (SREB) and oceangoing "Maritime Silk Road" (MSR).
