Cairo Criminal Court on Thursday adjourned until February 19 the retrial of police officer Yasseen Mohamed Hatem over the killing of activist Shaimaa el Sabagh.
Sabagh, a leading member of the Socialist Popular Alliance Party, was shot dead during a peaceful rally on January 24, 2015 to commemorate the martyrs of the January 25 Revolution on its fourth anniversary near Cairo's iconic Tahrir Square.
The court postponed the retrial to hear testimonies in the case.
In June 2015, Cairo Criminal Court sentenced the officer to 15 years in prison.
