Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Turkey on October 10, a Russian Presidential Aide said Tuesday.
Russian news agency Itar-Tass reported today that presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Putin will meet with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and address the World Energy Congress during the visit.
Ties between Russia and Turkey saw tensions rise back in November 2015 after the latter downed a Russian fighter craft that violated Turkish airspace on the border with Syria.
The two countries however also share economic and trade interests. Russia is one of the supporters of establishing natural gas pipelines that passes through Turkish land, transporting Russian gas to Southeast Europe.
