Tanzania and Malawi will next month hold a meeting to discuss issues that may include disputes over border and suspected espionage, a senior official said Thursday.
Mindi Kasiga, a spokesperson of Tanzania's foreign ministry, said the meeting will be held from February 3 to 5 in the Malawian capital Lilongwe.
She said the joint meeting will resolve a number of issues for the well-being of the two countries.
"It is our hope that the Tanzanians alleged to be spies recently will also be one of the agenda and solved in a peaceful manner and that of the border crisis emerged a few years ago," she said in a statement.
Relations between the two countries have been in trouble in recent years over the ownership of a portion of Lake Nyasa in Tanzania and Lake Malawi in Malawi.
