Melissa Rivers is to serve as co-host of Fashion Police when the popular, style-analysis program returns Aug. 31, E! announced.
Rivers will appear alongside current panelists Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, while she continues to serve as executive producer on the series. In each episode, the trio will be joined by two additional, rotating celebrity guests, including comedians, stylists and actors, the cable television network said.
The show has been on hiatus since panelist Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin, the moderator who replaced Rivers' mother Joan after she died last year, both quit. Osbourne and Griffin said they objected to a controversial joke Rancic made on-air about young starlet Zendaya. Rancic has apologized for making the comment.
"As an executive producer since the beginning, Melissa helped shape Fashion Police into an iconic TV series that couples fashion with comedy," Jeff Olde, executive vice president of programming and development for E!, said in a statement Wednesday. "We are pleased to now also feature Melissa in front of the Fashion Police cameras, as she joins returning panelists Giuliana and Brad. And with the added flavor of rotating panelists, the show will deliver fresh, different and unpredictable fashion reviews with each new episode."
"I'm very excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with my E! and Fashion Police family," added Rivers.
