The International Emirati documentary "The Tainted Veil" is to be screened in Laemmle's Playhouse 7 cinema in Los Angeles, USA, from October 16th, for one week.
The movie, an Anasy Media Production, is a collaboration of three different directors, documentary filmmaker veteran, Ovidio Salazar, Mazen Al Khayrat and Nahla Al Fahad.
"The Tainted Veil" looks into the origins of the Hijab, its place in societies today and its implications and effects over the centuries. Things that have led to it becoming a source of endless debate worldwide.
This experimental documentary, produced by Alyazia bint Nahyan Al Nahyan, portrays a mixture of opinions from around the world, taking a look through the eyes of the women who decide to wear the veil, or not. With historical context and contributions from leading specialists, the facts about the hijab are layed bare.
"The Tainted Veil" has already been screened in London at a private showing, attended by 85 guests, in June. Among the guests at the special red carpet event at Hampstead's Everyman Cinema, were Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Abdulrahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee, UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
