Feature film Rani Myet (I'm dead), by Algerian filmmaker Yacine Mohamed Benhadj, will compete at the 11th International Movie Festival in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, from 10 to 17 December, the organizers said.
Produced in 2014 by BL Films with the support of Emirati Indjaz programme, Rani Myet will compete for the Golden Muhr alongside many other Arab productions.
the competing productions include "Dalaphines" (Dolphins), by Emirati Walid Chihi, "Koudouret Gheir Adiya" (Supernatural Powers), by Egyptian Daoud Abdel Sayed and "El Bahr Min Wara Ukum"(The Sea Behind You), by Moroccan Hichem El Asri.
The 95mn movie Rani Myet relates the story of Omar, a car thief who finds a briefcase containing money belonging to a criminal.
Born in 1981, Yacine Mohamed Benhadj, a writer and scriptwriter who produced his first short film in 2007, entitled "Total Eclipse."
He received the Goldern Olive Tree Award in 2008 at the National Cultural Festival of Amazigh Film in Setif (300-km east of Algiers).
The Algerian filmmaker is also the author of a feature-length film, The Well, directed by Lotfi Bouchouchi.
