The number of tourists visiting Istanbul, the largest city of Turkey, increased by 13 percent in the last 10 months of 2014 compared with the same period last year, Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism said in a statement on Tuesday.
"The total number of foreign tourists who visited the city from January until October reached about 10.142 million," the statement added.
The number of German tourists came first followed by Russians, while Iranians and Britons came third and fourth respectively, it noted.
According to Tourism Ministry data, the number of tourists visiting Turkey rose to over 30 million in the first nine months of the year, up from 28.3 million during the same period of 2013.
The revenue of tourism is a major source to hard currency in Turkey, while it is trying to curb its trade deficit.
