More than 150 people have died In Nigerian capital Lagos following a plane crash. A Boeing MD-83 aircraft crash landed in the Iju residential area of the city overnight. Operated by Lagos-based Dana Air, the plane had flown into the capital from Abuja. Everybody on board the plane was killed, with casualties also reported on the ground. Rescuers remain on the scene. Many of the dead are thought to be Nigerian, with the Chinese embassy releasing a statement to say six of its nationals had also been on board. In a statement, Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan said he had ordered the “fullest possible” investigation into the crash. Three days of mourning have been called as the country comes to terms with the disaster. Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos is a major transport hub for West Africa. Some 2.3 million passengers passed through in 2009.
