The number of British and South Korean tourists visiting Bali Island increased in the first half of the year, Head of the Bali Central Statistic Agency Adi Nugroho stated in Denpasar, Bali, on Thursday.

"The number of British and South Korean tourists that visited Bali increased by 15.36 percent and 22.79 percent respectively," Nugroho revealed.

Nugroho said, the Great Britain ranked fourth among the 10 largest contributors of tourists to Bali, the first being China, followed by Australia and India. In the first half of 2017, some 113,413 British tourists had visited Bali as compared to 98,311 visitors in the same period last year.

As many as 110,848 British tourists arrived at the Bali Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali aboard direct flights from their country, while 2,565 people opted for travelling by cruise ships.

Data also indicated that the Great Britain contributed 4.03 percent of all tourists visiting Bali, and 2,811 million people arrived in the first half of 2017, an increase of 23.76 percent as compared to 2,271 million recorded in the same period last year.

Nugroho remarked that 87,148 South Koreans had visited Bali in the first half of 2017, an increase of some 16,177 tourists, or 22.79 percent, as compared to the same period last year.

South Korea stood seventh in terms of the number of tourists to Bali, with the Great Britain being ranked fourth, followed by Japan and the US, and South Korea contributing 3.51 percent.

On a different occasion, Head of the Badung Town Tourism Office I Made Badra stated that his side will promote their tourism in England and Singapore this October.

The promotion agenda will be held in cooperation with the Local Tourism Promotion Agency, travel bureaus, the managements of various hotels and tourism attractions in the area.

Several European countries have become the target for tourism promotion, considering the fact that tourists are interested in visiting Bali, especially Badung, as the centre of tourism development in the province, Badra added.
