Enjoy a guided bicycle tour of some of the older parts of the city this Sunday, the latest in the "Bangkok Car Free Sunday" series of outings. The itinerary for the day's excursion includes sites of religious, historic or natural significance. Setting off from Saranrom Park at 8am, the convoy of cyclists will make its first stop at the nearby College of Dramatic Arts to view a statue erected to the Hindu deity Ganesh. Then the group will pedal on to Santichaiprakarn Park to pay their respects at the site of the last lamphu tree in Bang Lamphu district which was cut down a few weeks ago. Later, the tour party will make stops at places of worship including Chakrapong Mosque and Chao Por Noo shrine, both in Bang Lamphu, and Chao Por Pha Kham shrine within the Panthom community. Stops during the afternoon session include: a shrine at Mahakan Fort; Ban Bat, a neighbourhood where alms bowls for monks are still made by hand; and Pratoo Phi, an old concrete crematorium just outside a section of the old city wall in Pomprab Sattruphai district. There is no charge for joining the tour. From bangkokpost
