A flash mob at Dubai Airport has become an internet sensation, clocking up more than 50,000 hits on YouTube.com since Saturday. The event, which included 55 dancers and took weeks to arrange, took place in the shopping area of Dubai Duty Free, and was organised by the airport to promote the new DXB Connect Card, a pre-paid card designed for airport passengers.Scott Marshall, from Diverse Choreography, said he was overwhelmed by the popularity of the event on the web."To be honest the flash mob thing has been done quite a lot and they have been popular, but I think what went down really well was using the uniforms of the airport workers," he said. "That made it a little bit different because everyone was in staff uniforms.""Everyone said it was one of the best they've seen in Dubai, which is great. We're all pretty happy with it."Marshall said that all of those involved in the event were already on the books of the company."We do a lot of events so we have a very big pool of performers."The response on video-sharing website Youtube.com was positive on Monday, with one viewer commenting: "Fantastic! In a world with so much sadness, this puts a lot of smiles on a lot of faces."
