Dubai - Arabstoday

Emirates Airline said on Monday it will increase flights to Sudan, providing a daily, non-stop service between Dubai and Khartoum next month. Emirates will add an additional flight per week from December 5 and will continue to use an Airbus 330-200 on the route, the carrier said in a statement. “By providing an extra flight, we are responding to strong demand from our customers for our Khartoum-Dubai services," said Jean Luc Grillet, Emirates’ senior vice president, Commercial Operations, Africa. "This additional flight will offer customers greater flexibility in choosing their travel times as well as help support further business and tourism opportunities in Sudan.” Emirates, which launched services to Khartoum in 2002, currently serves 20 destinations in the African continent, with new services to Zambia and Zimbabwe starting from February 2012. Last month, the airline said it has moved to strengthen its market position in Africa with several appointments in its commercial operations team. New country managers have been installed for Morocco, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and Uganda, Emirates said in a statement. RAK Airways announced earlier this month that it will launch flights to Sudan next month, expanding its route network to 10 destinations since the carrier's relaunch last year. Starting on December 15, RAK Airways will offer three flights a week to Sudan's capital city Khartoum, it said in a statement.
