Etihad Airways has introduced its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Abu Dhabi-Zurich route, offering the airline's industry-leading First Suites, Business Studios, and Economy Smart Seats, and providing travellers with unparalleled comfort and innovation.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the departure gate to mark the occasion, attended by Etihad Airways' Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Baumgartner, and Zurich Airport's Chief Operating Officer, Stefan Conrad, as well as representatives from local Swiss media. Guests travelling on the inaugural flight were presented with special luggage tags and commemorative B787 certificates.
Members of the Swiss media were also given a tour of the Etihad Airways B787 aircraft where they had the opportunity to experience the airline's new product offering.
Mr Baumgartner said, "Switzerland is one of the most important aviation markets for Etihad Airways and it is significant that we are deploying our state-of-the-art, new B787 Dreamliner on the Zurich route.
"Our latest product is setting new benchmarks in service standards and we're immensely proud to introduce it to Swiss travellers. We believe it will set us apart from our competitors in Switzerland and look forward to feedback from our guests who flew on today's first flight."
Each First Suite on the Etihad Airways B787 has a large Poltrona Frau upholstered seat and ottoman, a personal wardrobe and a chilled mini-bar. The Business Studios offer 20 per cent more personal space than the airline's current business class seats, and feature a fully-flat bed and a personal 18-inch touch screen TV with noise-cancelling headsets. In Economy Class, guests will enjoy more space and even greater comfort.
Etihad Airways' customer-oriented inflight services include Chefs in First Class, Food and Beverage Managers in Business Class, and the acclaimed Flying Nannies, who receive training at world-renowned Norland College in the United Kingdom.
