Doha - Arabstoday

Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, which launched flights to Madinah's Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in June 2010, recently celebrated a successful two years of operations, reinforcing its longstanding relationship with Saudi Arabia. Gulf Air first flew to Saudi Arabia in 1950 and has been operating to Madinah since June 2010. Since then, the airline has continuously expanded and strengthened its presence connecting customers from the far corners of the Kingdom to regional and international destinations through its vast network. Following the success of Gulf Air's operations to Madinah, the airline has increased its frequency from 4 to 6 flights per week in each direction as of May. These additional flights have afforded passengers with 544 more seats. The extra flights offer greater flight options for Saudi business travelers and tourists to travel to Bahrain and onward while giving more flight options for religious travelers whether from Bahrain or elsewhere to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Gulf Air Chief Commercial Officer Karim Makhlouf said: “We have been flying to Saudi Arabia since 1950 and own the distinction of being the first international airline to land in Riyadh in 1982. We commenced our operations to Madinah in June 2010 and have continuously expanded and strengthened our presence since then, with greater flight options, expanded route networks and stronger product offerings. We are very pleased with the performance of our Madinah route over the past two years that has seen strong demand across all classes.” He added: “As the carrier with the largest Middle East network, Gulf Air provides excellent onward connectivity to African, Asian and European destinations. We offer our Indian travelers seamless and faster connections in less than 3 hours giving a choice of as many as 730 flights a week to the Arabian Gulf, Middle East, North Africa and Europe via our efficient hub Bahrain.” From arabnews
