Indian railways on Friday canceled 40 trains and diverted many others due to threat of upcoming severe cyclonic storm 'Hudhud' which is expected to land fall in its eastern coast.
India's East Coast Railway said 35 trains were canceled and 31 diverted, while the South Central Railway said it canceled five other trains.
"Hudhud", which is now moving in the northwest direction in the Bay of Bengal, is nearing the coast of the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and is expected to cross the coast around Visakhapatnam Sunday.
The Indian authorities have asked people living in the coastal areas likely to be hit by the cyclone to evacuate to safer places.
