LONDON FROM HIGH ABOVE If in London during the Olympics this month, take in the sites from a different perspective. Emirates Air Line, UK’s first urban cable car, has been launched to cross the Thames last week. Passengers can take a “flight” almost 300 feet above the city over Canary Wharf, historic Greenwich, the Thames Barrier and the Olympic Park. It can be used by pedestrians, wheelchair users and cyclists every 30 seconds, in 34 cabins from two terminals: Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and Emirates Royal Docks. The journey across the 1.1km cable line takes about ten minutes. SENTOSA OPENS SINGAPORE’S LARGEST SPA Resorts World Sentosa opened ESPA yesterday. The 10,000 sq m luxury spa is the largest in Singapore. Visitors can choose from 24 multifunctional treatment rooms with beautiful views of manicured landscaped gardens, pools and ponds, sea and jungle-covered hillsides, two private spa suites overlooking the reflection pool and two beach villas. It also houses the city’s first Turkish hammam and Japanese onsen-style pools. ETIHAD FLIES SIX DAYS TO LAGOS Etihad Airways has started its six-flights-a-week service between Abu Dhabi and the Nigerian city, Lagos. The launch flight was on the sky-blue A330-200 aircraft, painted in Manchester City Football Club’s famous colours. The flights will be operated by an A330-200 aircraft, configured to carry 22 passengers in Pearl Business class, and 240 passengers in Coral Economy class. The service adds to the airline’s existing flights to Cairo, Casablanca, Johannesburg, Khartoum, Nairobi and Tripoli. EMIRATES TO LAUNCH SECOND SERVICE TO PARIS Emirates will launch a second A380 service to Paris from January 1 next year. The double-decker will be deployed on EK 075 and 076, in addition to the A380 service to Charles de Gaulle started in 2009. The new EK 075 will leave Dubai at 3pm and arrive in Paris at 7.30pm. The return EK 076 will depart Paris at 9.05pm and get into Dubai at 6.40am. ENJOY RIXOS ROYALTY IN TURKEY Rixos Resorts offer summer specials in Turkey, from 2,390 euros (Dh11,056).
