Airports Company (Adac) and Lufthansa German Airlines announced yesterday the increase of flight capacity between Frankfurt and Abu Dhabi International Airport starting by the end of October. Lufthansa flights on Abu Dhabi sector will no longer continue onwards to Muscat, giving full capacity of the aircraft to Abu Dhabi-Frankfurt passengers, the airline announced in an emailed statement. This is Lufthansa's second upgrade within 12 months after introducing a daily service on the route last October, up from six weekly flights. The Lufthansa flights will be operated with an Airbus A330-300 aircraft with non-stop flights to Frankfurt, departing from Abu Dhabi daily at 1:15am local time. This year passenger traffic between Frankfurt and Abu Dhabi increased 14 per cent over the same period last year. "Lufthansa is pleased to announce increased capacity on its Abu Dhabi-Frankfurt route, which reflects the growing demand from our customers in the Abu Dhabi region, in Germany and in the rest of Europe," said Peter Pollak, Lufthansa's General Manager for the UAE and Director for Gulf and Iraq. "The continued support offered to us by Adac helps us easily accommodate our needs." "At Adac, we are working closely with various airlines to support their development initiatives that ultimately benefit our passengers and provide them with more choices," said Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operating Officer at Adac.
