Muscat - Arab today

Eighteen new cabin crew members have joined SalamAir operations, following their graduation from a training course, the airline announced.

SalamAir, Oman’s first budget airline, added 18 new members to its growing team of cabin crew during a graduation ceremony on the completion of a month-long training.

Conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower, OPAL and the Polyglot Institute, the training was aimed at enhancing necessary skill-sets in order to advance the cabin crew’s career development.

As part of a ‘cabin crew safety and emergency procedure’ course, the new recruits were trained in 13 different areas, including aeronautics, security, first aid, dangerous goods awareness, crew cooperation, accident reporting and crew duties and responsibilities.

François Bouteiller, SalamAir’s chief executive officer, said, “We are continuing to redefine our guests’ travel experience with budget airlines and offering quality service on-board as an essential part of the journey. By training and providing our crew members with the tools to grow professionally, we are offering our talented employees a platform to embark on rewarding careers in the aviation industry.”

He further added, “The Middle East is one of the fastest expanding regions for the airline industry, with air traffic in Oman alone expected to grow by 40 per cent by 2019. For that reason, it is imperative that we support and contribute to this growth with local and national-born individuals, who are fully qualified to meet highest international safety and quality standards. As Oman’s first budget airline that reflects the ‘soul of Oman,’ our ambitious expansion strategy, coupled with our growing number of professional staff members, will ensure that our guests reach their destination of choice with complete satisfaction.”

Since its launch, SalamAir has expanded its route network to include seven destinations, backed by a total of 70 cabin crew members.
