His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday (Sunday) inaugurated the Pilots and Aircrew Electronic Licences service. Shaikh Mohammad inaugurated the service during a visit to the Shaikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre in Abu Dhabi. Following the inauguration, Shaikh Mohammad received his pilot e-licence from Saif Mohammad Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Al Suwaidi on the strategy prepared by the authority to keep pace with the UAE Government Strategy and Vision 2021. Al Suwaidi also spoke about the role of the authority, which includes regulating aviation activities and ensuring the safety of the civil aviation environment, providing air navigation services, in addition to facilitating international cooperation and flight connection operations, investigating aviation accidents, and representing the UAE in international events. Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; and other senior officials.
