Seoul to start alert system for overseas travelers

South Korea will introduce a special travel alert system in order to better protect South Korean travelers abroad from abrupt risky situations, the foreign ministry said Friday. The present travel warning system has four levels of tourism alerts that are issued to outbound travelers, ranging from as mild as informing travelers to take special care to as strong as issuing outright travel bans. After a ban has been issued over a country or a region, it is reviewed every six months.
