Spain's Maritime Rescue Services rescued 58 immigrants off its southern coasts Sunday as they attempted to enter the country illegally.
A Moroccan national informed the Services, via phone, about an inflatable boat that was out from the Moroccan coasts heading towards Spain, the Services said in a statement, noting that the boat was found 10 miles away from Alboran Island of Almeria province, southeast of Spain on the Mediterranean Sea.
The boat was carrying 32 men, 16 women and 10 children under the age of three, the statement said, adding that they all received necessary medical checkups, as well as basic services and care from the Red Cross.
The immigrants were all transported to the city's police station, in which necessary procedures will be taken in order to send them back to their country, said the statement.
