2 Grad rockets fired from Gaza hit Ashkelon
Gaza – Mohammed Habib
According to Israeli occupation army radio on Wednesday, 2 Grad rockets fell on Tuesday evening in Ashkelon, southern Israel. The radio claimed that the Iron Dome defence system intercepted one of the
rockets, while the other fell in an open area without causing any damage or injury.
A senior officer in the leadership of the Israeli army said that the army "would respond to every rocket launch".
Channel 10 TV, the Israeli army channel, reported that the instructions for the population in the Ashkelon area has not changed as schools are shut for the summer and students have left the area.
Chief of staff of the Israeli army, Benny Gantz said that despite the relative calm with Gaza, the army will eventually be forced to carry out a military operation there. This threat by Gantz came in his speech during the session of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee in Israel's parliament, the Knesset on Tuesday.
In a separate development, Gantz vowed a deterrent reaction towards the suicide attack in Bulgaria, which targeted an Israeli tour bus killing 5 Israelis and wounding several last week.
Gantz said that Israel will find a way to respond to this attack, which "will not be isolated", but within the context of other operations.
