Free Syrian Army (FSA) rebels near Tishreen Military Hospital in Damascus
Ninety-one people, including nine women and eight children were killed in the Syrian conflict on Thursday, local coordination committees have claimed.
The committees added that one person died from a chemical weapons attack, whilst 22 were tortured to death. Forty-five Syrians were reported killed in Damascus and surrounding areas. Further fatalities were reported in Daraa, Aleppo, Homs, Deir Ezzor, Haskeh, Hama and Idlib.
A war plane belonging to President Bashar al-Assad's forces was shot down by rebel Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters in the northwestern city of Idlib.
Government forces shelled 405 different locations. Air strikes were recorded at 36 points, explosive barrels were dropped in Nahiyet Salma in Lattakia and Tal Refaat in Aleppo, surface-to-surface missiles landed in Damascus’ southern neighbourhoods, chemical weapons were also used in Qaboun and at Damascus-Homs International Highway. Artillery shelling was recorded at 165 places, followed by rocket shelling at 125 locations, and mortar shelling at 111 sports across Syria.
The Syrian army and opposition forces were involved in clashes at 148 strategic locations. In Damascus and its suburbs, the FSA targeted Khomasieh Company and the tank park in Qaboun and scored direct assaults, it also targeted the Police Hospital and the Vehicles’ Management and caused regime forces significant losses. It was also able to repel raid attempts in Barzeh and killed several soldiers, in Aleppo. FSA rebels also destroyed a number of buildings in which regime forces were stationed in Ashrafieh neighbourhood and targeted the local Scientific Research Centre. The opposition forces carried out further attacks on Dwerenieh, and claimed success in the operation.
In southwestern city of Daraa, the FSA blew up Binayat checkpoint and killed more than 15 members of the regime. They rebels were also involved in clashes with regime forces and Hezbollah fighters in Jassem and Busra Sham.
In Idlib, a Syrian government MiG fighter aircraft was downed by the FSA. According to activists on the grounds, Assad's forces are losing planes on a weekly basis with attacks on aircraft in Homs and Aleppo.
