Muammar Gaddafi's ex-spy chief to Libya
Mauritanian authorities extradited Muammar Gaddafi's ex-spy chief to Libya on Wednesday, nearly five months after he was arrested for entering the country illegally.
"Mauritanian authorities hand over ex-Libyan
spy chief Abdullah al-Senussi to Libya," read a newsflash on the Mauritanian state news agency channel in Arabic. An official source speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed the extradition to AFP.
Abdullah al-Senussi is wanted by France, Libya and the International Criminal Court for offenses committed before and during the Libyan Revolution in 2011. However Mauritania stated Senussi would face charges of illegal entry into the country before deportation.
Gaddafi's right-hand man was delivered to a Libyan delegation and the Libyan Minister of Justice. His current whereabouts are unknown.
He is alleged to have orchestrating killings in the city of Benghazi and recruited foreign mercenaries during the 2011 Libyan Civil War.
