Algeria says Al Qaeda not behind the abduction
The Ministry of Interior of Algeria confirmed on Tuesday that the abduction of civil servant Mohammed Eid Khleifi on Monday was carried out by three Algerians already known by the
police force.Their identities have been confirmed. A statement from the interior ministry received by 'Arabstoday' confirmed the official who was touring the desert region with his deputy was abducted by the group who are known to local authorities.
The official's Director of Protocol as well as his driver were released. The same source said that the authorities were active in securing the region. Algerian authorities are refusing to point the finger at anyone until a full investigation is carried out.
