Forests in Azfon combed in search for militants Algerian military forces killed two armed people affiliated with the extremist branch of Al-Qaeda in the Maghreb countries. A Security source told Arabstoday that the army killed the militants on Monday during an ambush. Army forces subsequently conducted combing operation of forests in the Azfon area in an effort to flush-out and arrest the remaining of terrorist members. The military had eliminated a number of terrorists last week in the Tikizert area. Algerian counter-terrorism troops also arrested two armed people on Sunday. The judicial police received information that those being held were members of the Persistence Battalion. The Algerian authorities conducted investigations that determined the identities of 18 others in the group, which a source said had been involved in terrorist attacks that targeted civilians and military.
