Leaders of the Islamist parties in Algeria expressed their optimism about the success of the idea of electoral coalitions and unified lists in the upcoming parliamentary elections, as they believe that it will increase the chances to be presented during the coming parliament.

According to poll conducted by “Arabs Today”, Islamist parties are less pessimistic than they were in the parliamentary elections witnessed by Algeria during the past years. The leaders of these parties agreed that they were looking forward to May 4, 2017, to taste the victory and win the largest number of seats in the next parliament, counting heavily on the "alliances".

Parliamentary candidate Nasser Hamdadoush of Peace Community movement expected, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, they will achieve great results during the coming parliamentary elections if compared to what they achieved during the elections held in 2012. He called the Algerian authorities for taking serious measures not allow any manipulation during the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on May 4.

He rebuked the boycotters of the coming parliamentary elections, saying that such action is considered a political program and will not serve the interests of the country. He stressed that the withdrawal from the political scene will serve only those people who work to falsify the coming parliamentary elections.

He added that if they won the majority of parliamentary seats during the coming elections, they would work to form a national unity government to lead the country during the coming transitional phase to save the country from the current economic situation witnessed since the fall of oil prices in 2014.

Parliamentary candidate Lakhdar bin Khallaf of Justice and Development Front said that the Islamists aspire to gain the majority of parliamentary seats during the coming elections, expressing his confidence that they can make a big surprise during the coming elections. He warned that such attempts could lead the country to chaos.

Al-Nahdha Secretary-General Mohammad Zuabi expressed his confidence that they will achieve positive results during the coming parliamentary elections, praising the alliance between Islamist parties under the umbrella of Union of Islamist Powers. He added that the main objective of their alliance is to help the country overcomes the current economic crisis saying that they do not aim just to achieve political gains during the elecions.
