A number of explosions have been heard in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a on Saturday, as security sources revealed that these explosions came as a result of the raids launched by the Arab Coalition against the strongholds of Houthi militias and other forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh in the northern area of the capital. They added that the fighter jets still fly intensively over the bombarded areas.
The Arab Coalition’s fighter jets targeted the military equipment on their way from Taiz to the insurgents in Koush front, destroying them. According to the coalition’s leadership, they managed to intercept three boats related to the Houthi militias during their attempt to attack the coalition’s ships before Medi Port.
In Mareb, the Yemeni army revealed that a senior military leader has been killed during the terrorist attack that targeted a mosque owned by the national army in Kofal Camp during prayers with a number of his aids.
The Yemeni government stressed that it will not accept the Houthis possession of heavy weapons and ballistic missiles not to allow the Yemeni people and the neighboring states under their influence and terrorism to meet the desire of their Iranian allies. It added that the Iranians use these militias to achieve their objectives and to pressure the international community to support their own projects.
The governmental statement came after the missile attack launched by the Houthis against a mosque inside a camp of the Yemeni army in Serwah Directorate of Mareb governorate. The attack led to the killing of 22 soldiers and the injury of dozens.
On the political side, UN Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmed warned that the current Yemeni conflict could lead to the expansion of the terrorist groups not only in the country but also in other places of the world. He called the international community for exerting efforts to ease the suffering of the Yemeni people and supporting the Yemeni parties to reach a political solution.
The statement of the international official comes at the end of his four-day European tour during which he held consultations with a number of European senior officials to discuss the recent developments witnessed in Yemen. He expressed his concern over the continuation of the humanitarian crisis witnessed in the country.
