The Arab Parliament has condemned the Iranian interference in Yemen by supporting the Houthi coup militias and their threats to neighbouring countries by continued firing of ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia.
The Arab Parliament called, in a statement issued here today, at the end of the first meeting of the third session, in the second legislative term, for peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis, according to the three main references: Gulf-sponsored initiative, the outputs of the national dialogue and relevant UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions especially the Resolution 2216, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
It pointed out that the Houthis are presenting everyday new evidence of their unwillingness to engage in any serious effort to resolve the Yemeni crisis peacefully, confirming their efforts to make the last Geneva negotiations a failure, and blamed the Houthi militias backed by the Iranian regime and held them responsible for the continued suffering of the Yemeni people.
The Arab Parliament stressed the support of the Yemeni legitimacy and the role played by the Arab Coalition for Restoring legitimacy in Yemen, calling on the Arab institutions to assume their responsibilities in bringing peace and security in Yemen.
The Arab Parliament also condemned the laying sea mines, booby-trapped boats and targeting oil tankers in the Red Sea by the Houthi militia, stressing that this targeting represents a terrorist act, a serious threat to international peace and security, a threat to the global trade movement and compounding the security risks in this strategic region, which requires a united position on the part of the international community to counter and deter such dangerous behaviours conducted by the Houthis.
