Bakri welcomes a proposal to create a military council for Sunnis in Tripoli
Beirut – Georges Chahine
Islamic preacher Sheikh Omar Bakri Fostek expressed before a gathering of young Salafis in Abu Ali square his deep gratitude for the announcement by the head of the Muslims League, who led the movement which
accompanied the release of Sunni detainees Sheikh Salem Al-Rafii, to create a military Council for Sunnis in Tripoli in order to defend the Sunnis in the city and the north. Rafii warned all those who wish to transfer the Syrian conflict inside Lebanon.
“The statements of al-Mekdad show their support to the Government of Bashar al-Assad and their anger towards the Syrian opposition. It seems that allies of the Syrian government in Lebanon have adopted to chase the Syrian opposition on behalf of the Syrian government in order to convert Lebanon to a burning yard to relieve their falling ally and to divert attention from his accelerated collapse and his massacres against his own people.
He pointed out that the kidnapping against the displaced Syrians, threats and false accusations issued against the Sunnis in Lebanon impose on them to unite in Lebanon and organise and prepare themselves according to the rule that states: "The best way to defend is to attack,” refusing to lure them to a battle which the allies of Syrian government in Lebanon are trying to incite. Upon those random kidnappings, the youth and groups of Sunnis in Lebanon and Syria should ask their truthful sheikhs to take the initiative and to form a defense council of Sunnis to defend the Sunnis in Lebanon, Syria and the region regardless of their nationality and ethnicity and community. The council shall be working on the release of all abducted whether they are from the Free Syrian Army or of their supporters.
